Hello
and thank you for visiting The Wounded Soldier
Fundraiser website. My name is Ed Huss, and I am
in the process of organizing our fifth annual golf
outing to support a wounded soldier. Our golf
outing will be held September 19th 2009 at the Hughes
Creek Golf Course in Elburn. I am currently lining up
speaking engagements, and was hoping that you would
allow me to come and speak to your group or organization
about our upcoming golf outing, and fundraiser.
Over the last four years we are
proud to have supported those who have sacrificed to
much of themselves. Last year we were able to
raise over $40,000 two local
Veterans this year.
Israel Del Toro from
Naperville, IL and
Terry Peterson from Warrenville, IL
who graduated from Marmion Military Academy. They each
received $20,000.00.

This year we will be raising money
for two soldiers:
Petty Officer
Elliot Miller of Pulaski County, IL and
SPC Aaron Carlson of Annawan,
IL. Petty Officer Elliot Miller was hit by a bomb
and his injuries left him close to death and in a coma
for 4 weeks. SPC Aaron Carlson was hit by a
suicide bomber on January 2, 2009 along with 4 other
Illinois guardsmen.
At this years golf outing we are
hoping to have two shotgun starts: One at 8:00AM and the
other at 1:00 PM., depending on how many golfers sign
up. I need your help. I need to know
if you would rather golf in the morning and return for
the dinner, the show, putting contest and rewards.
Or would you rather golf in the afternoon? We will
definitely have a shotgun in the afternoon and any over
run will golf the morning. If we have enough for a
second shotgun, we will do that.
Putting Contest:
Each foursome must pick who they want to putt for their
foursome, and please put the his name on the
registration form. This year the prize will be
awarded to the foursome. We have to do it this way
to save time. Any company that would like to
sponsor the putting contest, please let me know. If you
are coming by yourself we will fit you into a foursome
and we will pick your putter.
About the Honey Bears: This is
not a cheerleading squad. These girls are
professional singers and dancers. They have
performed all over the world. They have performed
on almost every U.S. Aircraft carrier, as well as over
160 military bases, cruise ships, state and county
fairs. And as many of you know, at the Wounded
Soldier Fundraiser last year.
When the show starts they take no
breaks. They change costumes every song. When
singers are singing, dancers and changing. When
dancers are dancing, singers are changing. The
girls will also be on the golf course all day greeting
you, selling raffles, mulligans, and having your picture
taken with them. And just making sure everyone is
having a great day. So please feel free to bring
guests for dinner and show.
We tried to get a 27 or 36 hole golf
course, but none of them in our have golf outings on
Friday, Saturday or Sunday. We needed a place that
could seat 250-300 people. No matter where we went
we would have to rent a tent, tables and chairs.
That is why we raised the price to $115.00 for golf,
dinner and show. Dinner and show is $35.00
This year you will be able to
donate and pay online. When you donate online,
you get your tax deductible receipts instantly.
You can also buy raffle tickets online. How about
that!
Well, we keep growing and we are so
thankful for each one of you. However, the bigger
we get the more hlep we need, especially during the
summer months. If you would like to volunteer,
please call me at 630-907-0775. Also, if you would
like to donate a door prize, a raffle item or auction
item, please let me know. Right now I am looking
for speaking opportunities. If you belong to an
organization or club that has speakers from time to
time, please recommend me to them so that I can tell
them what the Wounded Soldier Fundraiser is all about.
Please send me your email address so
I can communicate to you by email.
We appreciate your time, and
consideration. I hope that you will consider
having me come and speak to your group or organization
to share with them how we raise money to support our
wounded soldiers.
Sincerely,
Ed Huss
